BioRejuvenation Dentistry

What is BioRejuvenation Dentistry?

Traditionally, dentists have learned how to treat dental problems by studying and learning from diseased systems (i.e., periodontal disease, dental decay, heavily worn teeth). BioRejuvenation dentistry takes an opposite approach. In essence, it studies and learns from ideal dental systems when they’re functioning at their maximum level of health, as nature intended them to. Cosmetic dentistry is primarily driven by appearance where BioRejuvenation dentistry is driven by function. If the jaw joints are stable, the supporting muscles are relaxed and the teeth are upholding their ideal anatomy (i.e., not worn from grinding), the patient experiences a state of natural “nirvana” that is highly esthetic, highly functional, comfortable and long-lasting.

The BioRejuvenation process restores damaged teeth to their original, pristine shape, optimizing mouth function. In the process, patients feel better, experience ideal esthetics for their face and their needs for future dental repair are significantly reduced.

While the concepts of BioRejuvenation have been around for a long time, advances in dental materials have recently revolutionized our ability as dentists to offer all the benefits of BioRejuvenation with minimally invasive techniques. Traditionally, to correct alignment issues or to create the ideal smile, dentists resorted to more aggressive means, possibly crowning multiple teeth to achieve the desired results. While this approach might achieve those results of functionality and esthetics, it also comes at a cost as it requires a significant amount of tooth reduction. With these modern, minimally invasive advances, there are a few pioneering dentists that are offering all the benefits of BioRejuvenation, but accomplishing it by preserving more of patient’s natural tooth structure and avoiding these more aggressive means.

Can dentistry really reverse the aging process?

Don’t we all wish we could avoid the effects of aging? As is true of any chronic disease, the longer you succumb to it, the more evident its ill effects. The dental aging process might entail the loss of supportive bone to the dentition rendering teeth at a higher risk for tooth loss or accelerated tooth loss due to the destructive nature of tooth decay.   Or perhaps that dental disease is a functional one, where teeth are wearing down excessively due to poor alignment, the jaw joints are unstable and the supporting muscles inflamed. The point is these processes don’t have to be perceived as the inevitable experience of advancing years.

How BioRejuvenation Dentistry can turn back time
  • Rather than focusing on treating symptoms of disease as traditional dentistry always has, it focuses on restoring to health by targeting the underlying causes of disease.
  • Achieving a stable jaw joint position is foundational to BioRejuvenation Dentistry. Unfortunately, traditional dentistry is typically rendered while ignoring this position.
  • It’s goal is to achieve ideal tooth form: properly shaped teeth create ideal comfort, chewing efficiency and esthetics.
  • It’s goal is also to correct alignment problems and guidance of the bite. When this is achieved in conjunction with stable jaw joint positioning, the muscles relax, the destructive nature of clenching and grinding dissipate and headaches are alleviated. When this system is synchronized, the loss of tension and pain transform the face and eyes to its most youthful appearance.
