General Dentistry

Of the estimated 143,000 dentists practicing in North America, some 80 percent are general dentists. Unlike specialists, who are primarily focused on a particular aspect of dental practice, general dentists have the capacity to provide a wide array of treatment and preventive services.   Although general dentists are permitted to perform many of the same services rendered by specialists, Dr Schweifler believes that you cannot be a “Jack of All Trades” and that the level of overall care is greatly enhanced when relying on the talents of specialists.   He prefers to focus his clinical energy where he has the most expertise-

  • Diagnosis and early detection of dental disease
  • Prevention of dental decay and periodontal disease via the Dental Fitness Program
  • Restorative dentistry and implant-restorative dentistry
  • Cosmetic dentistry
  • Rejuvenation dentistry
  • Treatment of Temporomandibular Dysfunction (TMD)

Dental treatment planning can be very complex and often requires a multidisciplinary approach.  Dr Schweifler has formed highly successful relationships with various specialists that contribute to the overall Master Plan.  Similar to a General Contractor, Dr Schweifler helps co-create a Master Plan with each patient, consults with and relies on specialists for various aspects of the overall plan, but he is overseeing the entire process and stands behind the finished product.  Paramount to a patient’s long-term success regarding any treatment plan is having a preventive-minded hygiene program that can help a patient maintain health and protect their investment.    Dr Schweifler enjoys growing long-term relationships with his patients that are not possible in most of the other specialites.
